Vision Reimbursement Problems
One of the services we provide as RSI is to serve as your advocate and resolve any incorrect claims denials or payment amounts. Sometimes we come across problems that affect a large number of individuals, and when that occurs, we like to share the information so that others can either avoid or at least anticipate the situation before it happens.
Over the past several weeks, we have experienced quite a few situations in which Horizon has incorrectly processed reimbursements for glasses and/or contact lenses. Under most Horizon plans that have a “vision rider”, employees and their family members can receive up to $100 every two years toward the cost of vision hardware.
Apparently the claims processors at Horizon have been improperly coding the claims, resulting in reimbursements that fall short of the $100. While Horizon is in the process of correcting the problem, there are still likely a number of claims that will be affected.
